Jerry is a native of New Hampshire and has lived and worked in the lakes region for the past 32 years.
Education:
Jerry attended Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho from 1965 to 1970, where he majored in Architecture and Engineering. He then practiced as a Civil Engineering Designer in Idaho for 8 years, moving back to Concord to work in a family owned business.
Professional:
Returning to New Hampshire in 1978, Jerry helped run a local, family owned retail business in Concord. In 1980, he went to work for Abundant Life Farms in Lochmere as a Project Engineer, coordinating the development of new retail outlets throughout New England. In 1982, he purchased two of the retail outlets in Laconia and Portsmouth, and opened a third in North Conway, locally known as The Country Living Centers of New Hampshire. In 1985, he expanded the Laconia location to include a True Value Hardware Store and John Deere power equipment outlet. He retired from the retail business in 1991, and joined the New Hampshire Colonials Real Estate family shortly thereafter. Jerry is also a practicing licensed Auctioneer, doing benefit auctions for local schools, churches and organizations throughout New Hampshire.
Real Estate:
Joining the New Hampshire Colonials team in 1991, Jerry has been a consistent top performer in the firm. In 1994, Jerry earned the first 4 Million Dollar + Producer Award in New Hampshire Colonials history from the Lakes Region Board of Realtors. In 2004, he was the selling agent for the largest transaction ever sold on Squam Lake to that date, and the largest in Northern New England for 2004 at $6.25 million.
Volunteer Work:
Along with doing pro bono auctioneering for churches, schools and other community organizations, Jerry has also been involved in Holderness 2000 as the community concert organizer. As an Eagle Scout, Jerry has been in Scouting since 1958, and for the past 6 years as the Northern New England District Director for the Scouting group, Royal Rangers. He is also the Coordinator for a local group in Tilton.
Personal:
Jerry graduated from Concord High School in 1965, where he was a State of NH and New England Track and Field champion. He attended Idaho State University on a full athletic scholarship, where he was a Big Sky Conference Track & Field champion and record holder in the half mile in 1968. He was also recognized as the NH Athlete of the Month in May of 1967. In 1976, Jerry was a national Outstanding Young Men of America recipient. He is a member of his church board, and a board member of the N.H. Bible Society. He currently lives in Plymouth, New Hampshire with his wife of 42 years, N.H. author Rita Dawn Love. Rita and Jerry are the parents of 7 children, and in May of 2004, proudly announced the graduation of their 7th child from college.
Family:
Jerry and Rita raised their 7 children on their organic farm in Tilton, and sent all seven to the Tilton School. Their oldest son, Garrett, is a graduate of MIT, and holds a PhD from Duke University where he taught as an Adjunct Professor. He is currently a Professor of Applied Mathematics at North Carolina State University. Their daughter Ginger is a graduate of Bowdoin College, holds a Masters degree from Columbia University, and is currently a teacher at the French School in New York City. Their son, Fayvor, is a graduate of Princeton, lives in San Francisco, and works as a software architect. Their son Nolan also lives in San Francisco, and is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University. He is a Bio-medical engineer, and is the CEO of a small consulting firm. Their daughter, Chapel, is a graduate of Vassar College, was an All American lacrosse player, and was the former head coach of women’s lacrosse at Clarkson University. Their son Aubrey is a graduate of Colby College, holds a Masters degree in Physics education, and is a physics teacher and head coach at Brookline High School in Brookline, Mass. Youngest daughter, Echo, is a graduate of Dartmouth College, is a current graduate of the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Illinois and is living and practicing in San Francisco. 4 of their children are currently married, and Jerry and Rita are the proud grandparents of two boys. |
